The MW3 open beta period is now well underway for PlayStation gamers, and one of the most highly anticipated aspects brought back with the latest CoD installment is slide canceling. Unfortunately, those who have been able to execute this useful in-game move so far aren’t impressed with what they’ve seen, as some pre-release players have said that the animation “feels off” and that “it’s really bad.”
Though many within the community had long been asking for the return of slide canceling even before the Modern Warfare 3 release date was announced, its re-introduction has already been met with plenty of negative reactions due to its clunky animation. Of course, with the MW3 beta start time having already kicked off, its inherent issues are only amplified as more fans continue using the movement in-game.
One disgruntled X user even went so far as to call the revamped slide cancel “really bad” due to the slight delay that occurs after it’s executed. According to a comment from CoD news aggregator CharlieIntel, though, it seems that the current unintuitive nature of MW3 slide canceling wasn’t always the case, as they commented: “This delay was not there in the August build we played.” However, they did say that they were “unsure if there was an additional gear that made it faster [back then].”
This also wasn’t the only complaint about MW3’s janky slide cancel move, as another frustrated X user mentioned that “the slide cancel feels off.” Another player then shared their own experience with slide canceling after saying: “I click my slide button, and I slide .000005 seconds later.” Alas, it’s currently unclear whether this animation delay is a bug or a feature, as Sledgehammer Games and Activision have yet to comment on the matter.
